Thorny dragons, or thorny devils as they are sometimes known, are lizards that live in the desert outback of Australia.

They have a large bump at the back of their heads which make them look like they have two heads. This ”false head” helps to discourage predators, fooling them into thinking that it is awake and watchful even when it is sleeping.

It also prevents predators that are brave enough to bite it from biting its real head, which it hides under the sand.

Have a look at some videos of the gnarled and odd looking thorny dragon.
