Asian elephants can weigh over 6 tons or 11,000 pounds while African elephants weigh nearly 8 tons or over 15,000 pounds. The largest elephant weighed roughly 11 tons – as heavy as two schoolbuses! At birth, baby elephants already weigh about 260 pounds – about the same size as a fully grown pig.
