Quick Facts
Uranus is named after the Greek god of the sky, Ouranus. It is the only planet to be named after a Greek god rather than a Roman god.
Uranus has the coldest atmosphere of any planet in the Solar System, with temperatures dipping below 200 degrees Celsius below zero. Its surface is covered by different layers of clouds, some of which are made of water and others of methane.
Uranus is the third largest planet in the Solar System. However, of all the outer planets, Uranus has the least mass, about 14.5 times the mass of Earth.
